The Golf Courses

Mission Hills Haikou has 10 golf courses we will play the best 4 of these during our tournament plus the two terrific links courses at the Dunes at Shenzhou.

Golf professional Richard Ellis will be on tour playing with the group, so plenty of free tips for those in need of a swing fix or slight tune up.

BLACKSTONE – MISSION HILLS

The Crown Jewel, a spectacular 350-acre site that weaves through a landscape of mature trees, thick jungle vegetation and expansive lakes and wetlands. The dominating feature is the bed of lava rock. The naturally rolling terrain has dramatic elevation changes and great care was taken to find as many natural holes as possible to avoid cutting into the rock and preserve the Lychee trees.

Bring your camera this is a beauty.

Blackstone - Mission Hills

Lava Fields - Mission Hills

LAVA FIELDSMISSION HILLS

While similar in some ways to Blackstone, Lava Fields has irregular lines of turf and wild bunkering and far less tree cover. This gives a feeling if expanse where black rock and sand dominate the landscape like no other course you would have played anywhere in the world.

sandbelt trails – Mission Hills

Sandbelt Trails was inspired by the architecture of the Melbourne sandbelt, courses like Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath and Metropolitan. Large greens and large bunkers with gently rolling terrain allow for width and better angles of attack.

Sandbelt Trails - Mission Hills

The Vintage - Mission Hills

The Vintage - Mission Hills

A little of everything here, 250 acres creates room to move, deep pots, long thin bunkers, mounds, blind shots with both small and large greens.  Could be a day out.

The Dunes – East and West Courses, Shenzou

Both courses are Tom Weiskopf designs, similar but with subtle differences. Dramatic bunkering, elevation changes, ocean side holes where you may get your feet wet, rocky outcrops and sandy waste areas all go together to create a magnificent 36 holes of golf.

The Dunes - East and West Courses, Shenzou

The Tournament, “Pacific Golf - Hainan Cup”

You don’t have to be a great golfer to take part, just need an official handicap.

The tournament is set up to be a competitive but fun event with daily and overall prizes. The competition will be a stableford event with a women’s and men’s division. There will also be a gross section for the low handicappers.

As with most of our tournaments we also run daily betting competition for those who wish to take part.

Caddies

You will notice in the information that you will have your own caddy and cart each round. All resort courses in Asia provide this as part of the experience. The caddies are clothed, fed and sometimes housed by the resorts however they only receive a very small fee for their services. So, the only money they really make is from tips. It is customary / expected to tip your caddy around $20 - $25. They do a great job.

How to get to fly to Haikou Airport on Hainan Island
