You will notice in the information that you will have a caddy and cart each round. All resort courses in Asia provide this as part of the experience. The caddies are clothed, fed and sometimes housed by the resorts however they only receive a very small fee for their services. So, the only money they really make is from tips. It is customary / expected to tip your caddy around 100 RMB $20 - $25. They do a great job.
Mission Hills Haikou has 10 golf courses we will play the best 4 of these during our tournament plus the two terrific links courses at the Dunes at Shenzhou.
The Crown Jewel, a spectacular 350-acre site that weaves through a landscape of mature trees, thick jungle vegetation and expansive lakes and wetlands. The dominating feature is the bed of lava rock. The naturally rolling terrain has dramatic elevation changes and great care was taken to find as many natural holes as possible to avoid cutting into the rock. This World Cup course was voted #1 in Asia and lives up to its reputation. Bring your camera, this is a beauty.
Lava Fields has been rated as high as #2 in China while similar in some ways to Blackstone, some rate it even better. This course has finely manicured fairways, wild bunkering and as the name suggests plenty of lava rock. Black rock and sand dominate the landscape you may think you are playing on of the great course in Hawaii
Pete Dye, has built some of the most remarkable courses in the USA , while this course was not designed by Dye it showcases all the wild features associated with his designs. Railway sleepers, big mounds and moguls, long waste bunkers, tricky greens and railway carriage bridges all create a distinct look. These features are spectacular as the course meanders its way through ancient volcanic quarry’s supported by steep rock walls and timber. The dramatic landscape features of yesteryear including coal carriages, railway tracks, and abandoned mining equipment. The course is real fun to play, not long but demands good shot making and a welcome option to many of today’s long courses.
A little of everything here, 250 acres and lots of room to move, deep pot bunkers, there’s even one in the middle of 9th green, fantastic mounding, rolling fairways with a mixture of small and large greens. This excellent design is not too demanding and a great way to start the tour.
Both courses are Tom Weiskopf designs, regarded by many as his best work. Both course meander their way through the sand dunes ,fantastic ocean side holes ,dramatic bunkering, elevation changes, rocky outcrops and sandy waste areas all go together to create a magnificent 36 holes of golf.
People have commented the East Course is the best links course they have ever played.
