It is great to be able to send out a positive newsletter.
I am sure all golf nutters will have square eyes after another great British Open. The coverage was on for about 15 hours a day and it was interesting listening to various commentators’ funny stories, some not so PC but there is nothing wrong with that, something different than usual and sometimes boring stuff.
It almost always comes down to last 9 holes with 3 or 4 players in with a chance, in fact this year it was the last two holes, what a great win for Cam Smith.
The rival LIV tour is causing some controversy, an enormous power struggle has emerged between a now united US and European Tours against the Saudi backed LIV tour with Greg Norman seen as the Big Bad Boy ?? but is he really.
Plenty of water to go under the bridge here, it should be about growing the game, but it is all about control or losing control. I think a real-world tour would be great for the game however it will mean all parties coming to a sensible agreement. It would not take much for Europe and the US freeing up 6 to 8 weeks a year??
After being locked up for so long and not able to do pretty much anything It was fantastic to get back to some normality and go to the airport and jump on a plane to Fiji.
After almost 3 years with no tourists and basically no money for maintenance, nobody was expecting the golf courses to be in great condition, however they were both excellent.
The Sheraton Hotel went through a $90 mill refurbishment during lock down, wow, what a fantastic job they did, beautiful rooms and the new restaurants and bar areas are exceptional. It is a real Five-Star Resort. The renovation to their sister hotel next door” The Westin” is about to undergo $100 mill upgrade.
With professional and amateur golfers out of hibernation there were plenty of on and off course celebrations and numerous kegs of Fiji beer and exotic cocktails consumed.

Hawaii Tour is just about ready to depart, everyone booked on our Hawaii International Golf Week tour are extremely excited with only four weeks before we depart to the great course on the Big Island. This tour will take place again in August 2023.
Thailand Golf Classic tour was due to take place in March 2020, this event was called off at the final hour and we all know why. The event was full, however there are a few people that cannot attend in November, so we have 7 spots available on a first booked basis.
The new dates for Thailand are November 12th – 19th for 7 day tour and November 9th -19th for the 10 day tour, the event information is on our website www.pacificgolf.co.nz

This week we will see the Senior British Open played, bit more time in front of the TV. I see there are a number of players from down under, maybe another Aussie or even a Kiwi win??
