Your Invitation to Play

Note from Richard Ellis – I have been running professional and amateur golf events at numerous destinations around the world for more than 25 years. Over the past 7 years we have been running this event in Thailand. Thailand has become a world class golf destination where you will find some of best championship and resort courses in Asia with hotel accommodation to match. We have a great tournament and 5-star tour planned, you don’t have to have a single figure handicap to play. If you enjoy the challenge of playing great championship courses and don’t mind a few side bets and a good laugh, we would love to see you.

Thailand Golf Classic Tour will take place March 10th to 17th at the seaside town of Hua Hin and Thailand’s Capital Bangkok.

The Thailand Golf Classic is an annual tournament played over 3 rounds on three of Asia’s finest courses, this is an individual and team’s tournament, invitations are for teams of (4 players) to compete. The event is limited to the first 10 teams entered (40 players), for those people who don’t have a team and wish to enter individually the organisers will place you into a team for the purpose of the team’s event.

All competitors will stay at the beautiful Hua Hin Hilton Resort & Spa for 5 nights during the tournament then onto the Westin Grande Hotel in Bangkok for 2 nights. The tournament package includes 7 night’s accommodation, daily full breakfast, transfers to all golf courses, 5 rounds of golf including cart and personal caddy, lunch and drink on course, special players gift pack, great prizes, welcome cocktail party, nightly drinks at the tournament bar during the tournament and final night prize presentation dinner.

The tour kicks off on the 10th of March, on arrival at Bangkok Airport competitors will be met and transfer to Hua Hin, we travel by coach down the motorway about 2 hours south of Bangkok to Hua Hin, a former fishing village on the Gulf of Thailand and home to the Thai Royal family. These day’s Hua Hin is a thriving town with great waterfront accommodation, numerous restaurants and has become a fantastic golf destination with 6 championship golf courses, including two world class layouts, both voted the best in Asia over the past 6 years Banyan Resort and Black Mountain, Black Mountain is the venue for a European tour event. Accommodation has been reserved at the five star Hilton Resort & Spa for the first 5 nights.

As most people will have traveled for more than 12 hours to get to Thailand, day one is a rest day with an opportunity to have a look around the local area before the tournament starts. People traveling on our Asia Championship Golf tour will join the group in time for the welcome cocktail party where you will receive your event gift pack and all information on the tournament.

The Thailand Golf Classic tournament will take place March 12th, 13th & 14th the first round will be played at the Jack Nicklaus designed Royal Springfield , second round at Banyan Country Club and final round at Black Mountain. After three rounds of competition on fantastic golf courses it will time to present the prizes at the tournament dinner.

The next morning, we travel back towards Bangkok and a round at one of Asia’s best new course “Nikanti” we played this course the last two years, it’s amazing. After golf and dinner, we make our way the Westin Grande Hotel in Bangkok city. The final round of the tour is at Alpine Country Club, a private course in Bangkok former Jonnie Walker Classic venue and considered as one of the best private courses in Asia.

As with most golf tours there will be a fair number of side bets taking place. There will be separate competition for every round on the tour and to give everyone a chance of winning we will adopt a special handicapping procedure.

Handicaps-  Everyone will play the first round of the tour on their normal club handicap, after each round players will be re-handicapped down or up depending on their previous day’s score. The maximum handicap movement will be 2 strokes a day.

The betting fund (prize pool) there will be prize pool set up with all players expected to put in (500 Bhat) $20 a day. Daily prize money will be for first, second and third stableford and the best gross.

There will be a Calcutta held in conjunction with final round at Alpine Country Club. The format for the Calcutta will be a team’s ball best ball stableford. Once the draw is completed the teams will be auctioned.
