You will also have your own caddy & cart each round.

Mission Hills Haikou

Mission Island Haikou

Mission Hills Haikou is arguably the words best golf resort destination, fantastic hotel, numerous restaurants & bars, world’s biggest volcanic mineral springs/ spa, world class shopping, movie world, entertainment centre, 10 golf courses including Blackstone venue for the 2011 World Cup of Golf.

On this tour we will play the best 4 courses at Mission Hills then the Dunes East & West courses at Sheraton Shenzhou Peninsular.

This is also a great trip for non- golfing partners with numerous activates available, you may wish to pamper yourself at world’s biggest volcanic mineral pools and spa complex.

The tournament will be a 4 round stableford event at Mission Hills (men’s & women’s competition) then further two rounds at Shenzhou.

The Hotels

Mission Hills Haikou hotel is one of the finest luxury hotels on Hainan Island, all rooms are tastefully decorated with amenities to ensure guests enjoy the highest level of comfort. Apart from the 10 golf courses the complex houses world class sports, leisure, entertainment and dining facilities and has the world’s biggest mineral springs resort. Weather you are golf fanatic or don’t even play golf there is never a shortage of attractions at the resort or nearby.

The Sheraton Shenzhou is located about two hours drive from Mission Hills and nestled on 4 kilometres of sandy beach facing the South China Sea. The beautiful guests’ rooms all have views of the ocean, gardens or golf course. There are a number of restaurants and bars ranging for casual to fine dining, experience everything you expect from a luxury 5-star beach front resort.

The Golf Courses

Mission Hills Haikou has 10 golf courses we will play the best 4 of these during our tournament plus the two terrific links courses at the Dunes at Shenzhou.

Golf professional Richard Ellis will be on tour playing with the group, so plenty of free tips for those in need of a swing fix or slight tune up.

The Crown Jewel, a spectacular 350-acre site that weaves through a landscape of mature trees, thick jungle vegetation and expansive lakes and wetlands. The dominating feature is the bed of lava rock. The naturally rolling terrain has dramatic elevation changes and great care was taken to find as many natural holes as possible to avoid cutting into the rock and preserve the Lychee trees.

Bring your camera this is a beauty.

Blackstone - Mission Hills

Lava Fields - Mission Hills

While similar in some ways to Blackstone, Lava Fields has irregular lines of turf and wild bunkering and far less tree cover. This gives a feeling if expanse where black rock and sand dominate the landscape like no other course you would have played anywhere in the world.

sandbelt trails – Mission Hills

Sandbelt Trails was inspired by the architecture of the Melbourne sandbelt, courses like Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath and Metropolitan. Large greens and large bunkers with gently rolling terrain allow for width and better angles of attack.

Sandbelt Trails - Mission Hills

The Vintage - Mission Hills

The Vintage - Mission Hills

A little of everything here, 250 acres creates room to move, deep pots, long thin bunkers, mounds, blind shots with both small and large greens.  Could be a day out.

The Dunes – East and West Courses, Shenzou

Both courses are Tom Weiskopf designs, similar but with subtle differences. Dramatic bunkering, elevation changes, ocean side holes where you may get your feet wet, rocky outcrops and sandy waste areas all go together to create a magnificent 36 holes of golf.

The Dunes - East and West Courses, Shenzou

The Tournament, “Pacific Golf - Hainan Cup”

You don’t have to be a great golfer to take part, just need an official handicap.

The tournament is set up to be a competitive but fun event with daily and overall prizes. The competition will be a stableford event with a women’s and men’s division. There will also be a gross section for the low handicappers.

As with most of our tournaments we also run daily betting competition for those who wish to take part.

You will notice in the information that you will have your own caddy and cart each round. All resort courses in Asia provide this as part of the experience. The caddies are clothed, fed and sometimes housed by the resorts however they only receive a very small fee for their services. So, the only money they really make is from tips. It is customary / expected to tip your caddy around $20 - $25. They do a great job.

How to get to fly to Haikou Airport on Hainan Island

There a number of ways to fly to Hainan Island from New Zealand and Australia. The most common is via Hong Kong with a connecting flight to Haikou. There are also options of flying on a number of Chinese carriers via ports in China.

From Australia, there are a number of direct flights on Hainan Airlines to Haikou Airport.
